Welcome to SLAMM!

Dr. Isaac Amon addressing scholars, students, and community members – Baruch College, NYC, October 2025

The Sinai Legal Association for Memory & Modernity (SLAMM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit institute dedicated to exploring how law, history, and the Jewish experience across time and space shed light on contemporary struggles for justice, freedom, and moral responsibility. SLAMM explores how memory shapes law—and how law, in turn, can preserve human dignity. Through scholarship, education, and public engagement, we connect the lessons of history to the challenges and triumphs of our time. Above all, we seek to illuminate the enduring foundations of a free and ethical society.

Justice, justice shall you pursue.” Deuteronomy 16:20

A Living Legacy of Justice

Dr. Isaac Amon with Ben Ferencz (1920–2023), the last living Nuremberg prosecutor — a lifelong advocate for justice and the rule of law

Ben Ferencz — who prosecuted the Einsatzgruppen at Nuremberg — embodied a profound reminder that moral courage and legal principle must never be separated. His life embodied the conviction that law is not only a mechanism of accountability, but also a moral safeguard for humanity itself. Ferencz’s extraordinary life continues to inspire SLAMM’s mission and his legacy remains a guiding light for this work — a bridge between memory and modernity.
