About Us

The Sinai Legal Association for Memory & Modernity (SLAMM) is a nonprofit institute dedicated to preserving Jewish memory and advancing justice through the study of law, history, and moral responsibility. SLAMM brings together scholars, lawyers, and policymakers to explore how the legacies of Jewish thought—from Sinai to the 21st century —continue to shape the pursuit of human dignity and the rule of law today.

Through research, educational programming, and public engagement, SLAMM examines how lessons from the Jewish past illuminate enduring questions of conscience, persecution, and liberty. Its programs highlight the relevance of historical memory — from the Inquisition and the American Revolution to the Holocaust and the Nuremberg Trials — in strengthening the ethical foundations of law, society, and civic life.

SLAMM is committed to ensuring that the lessons of the past not only inform the legal and moral challenges of the present—including the surge in antisemitism around the world—but also help build a more just and humane future for generations to come.
